a luz // the light

there are things that deserve to be appreciated, and sometimes even though i want to spend hours trying to capture something with my camera, i just feel like sit and appreciate what’s in front of me. light is one of these things… flowers, the details, so many things that i see here and there, that i feel like shouting the world to stop this non-sense running around in search of something and just embrace the beauty of these simple things. well, in the middle of all this, i end up not sitting and appreciating, but just stand there and look at something, trying to figure out how in the world i’ll be able to bring a piece of that amazing thing with me. it’s impossible, but at least i bring a small piece of it. this world is so fabulous in its most simple things and details, as well as in its more complex things, like nature. nature and light. these things that i absolutely love and cannot avoid photographing. even if i’m the only one here to appreciate.

stepping out my comfort zone

… or on another words, playing with shadows and light. i use a lot of light on my work, but lately i’ve been feeling drawn to less light and more shadows. sometimes i feel that shadows are actually more beautiful and trickier to nail! one thing i know, i want to explore more how my work can benefit from these shadows and sun flares. but asides from the composition itself, the editing is also felt like stepping out of my comfort zone, my safe zone. but at the same time, it’s so exciting to see different things. allowing shadows and light coexist in a picture may bring a certain tone of subtleness that i absolutely love.

my favourite!

after this photo session, i really want to explore portraits more and more. and these tones seem perfect for a few out-of-the-box ideas! drop me an email if you are into something really creative this year!

going after spring

last week mr kobe was a very happy dog as i kept going with him to monsanto for really long walks! last week we finally had a few days with sun and gorgeous winter days, feeling almost a bit like spring with nice temperatures! and as by january spring starts to appear though yet a bit shy at first, i took the camera with me to capture those first spring signs!

ok, maybe this last guy has nothing to do with spring signs, but i loved this picture of him and i love that whenever i’m trying to make him go somewhere near the car to go back home, he finds a stick, lays down and starts chewing it like “oh here’s a stick!”

this weekend in images – part I

hello there lovelies, how are you doing? how was your weekend? around here it was quite full, but i would like to share some photos from yesterday, and invite you over for a long walk around lisbon! care to join me? this will be a visual, rather than a wordy post! fancy that? here you go, the weekend in images!

so just for those curious ones, we went for a walk in the woods with mr kobe, then brunch on a new-to-us place, which we absolutely loved and will feature the place here for sure and a walk around príncipe real and its botanical garden. one of my pleasures in staying in lisbon during the weekend is to take the time to either stay at home without the work pressure or to embrace lisbon and go for long walks and brunch. eventually we meet some friends, have coffee and wander around a little bit. i took the camera and asides from a video of a group of people playing music in largo camões, i also captured the beautiful light of lisbon while it was getting darker.

i will make a post just with those pictures along with christmas lights in lisbon pictures i took yesterday as well. lisbon is so rich this time of the year! it’s cold, there are chestnuts sellers on every corner, people go out for comfort food with friends and it feels good to live in such a beautiful city.

ps. today i launched the new film photography blog! i hope you can also enjoy it! i was holding myself back from self-hosting that blog, but i couldn’t help it. i want to custom my own blog and work with it as i want, and i hated the limitations of a wordpress.com blog. so feel free to visit me at film summer days for some analogue adventures! it’s merely a personal blog!
