{sneak-peek blogs} :: kootut murut

hello my friends, how are you feeling? how was your weekend? i hope you had a fabulous time enough to catch up with your family and friends… and if possible, to catch some sun! we had a busy weekend… a dinner party on saturday, a voting sunday… i got to see my parents and catch up with one of my best friends, which was delightful! but moving on, because a new week has started and today i am focusing on blogs. i met this girl through flickr and we got to exchange some messages because of our dogs. she is one of those girls that has a very original blog… with drawings and a german sheppard on the right side to welcome all the readers. and her home… well, she matches colours and details that are quite unexpected and creates a world of her own… pretty original and filled with character. and her blog is about that. renovating and building a home. no clues, so far? well, i will share some images…

do you recognize this home? this home belongs to jutta rikola… and she is the one behind the blog called {kootut murut}. here is a sneak-peek into her world…

the name for the blog… i came up with the name {kootut murut} when i was writing only in finnish. it’s a play with words in finnish, so it’s a bit difficult to translate. muru is the name of our dog. it means crumb but also sweetie or love. kootut means collected. a lovely reader {novi}  translated it as “a fine collection of sweet lovely things” and i quite like that.

what the blog means… i started the blog because i was reading blogs by people in a similar situation, renovating old houses with traditional methods and flea market finds, and i wanted to join that community. i never would have thought blogging would be so much fun and that i’d be still doing it almost three years later! it has become a way to share ideas, thoughts and inspiration, and also to get to know people around the world i never would have met otherwise.

the goals for the blog… i never really set any specific goals for my blog, and that probably shows! i ramble about subjects that interest me, although i try to keep the main focus on design, photography and illustration. i guess my main goal is to keep blogging as something i enjoy doing and not take too much pressure, and i hope that shows through to the readers as well.

the inspiration comes from… i love reading blogs, so they are definitely a big source of inspiration. also design and home decor magazines. i buy too much of them.

the favourite blogs… there’s too many to mention all. some of my favorites at the moment are {big print little}, {creature comforts} {my milk toof} and {vihreä talo}.

something you would never share on your blog… i try to keep my blog light and fun, because that’s the kind of blogs i enjoy reading myself. i do write about personal stuff too, but nothing too personal. so if you are looking for those deepest, darkest secrets, well, maybe my blog isn’t the place for them.

did you know jutta? if not, you have been missing quite a lot. she has made her appearances in {design*sponge} and {sfgirlbybay} and a lot more… her home is really as inspirational as she is. jutta draws, designs… so other than her home, she has also talent for other fields of interest. you can visit her {blog} and {flickr}. see you in a bit, my friends!

hello lovely friends, how are you doing so far in this (rainy) monday? yes, sunny and spring-ish lisbon has changed over a very rainy one! ugh, i hate these days when i am in a spring mood! well, moving on! how was your weekend? was it delightful? did you have the chance to stop and enjoy your home, your family, your book, your favourite meal? i truly hope so… i know i can be a totally laptop + internet dependent, but i do try to keep these away sometimes in order to let myself do other things! so, i was able to read a bit… and yes, i am reading about dogs! have you ever heard of cesar millan? oh he is my idol now! i really need to focus on my energy!

so today i wanted to bring to you a sneak-peek on a delicious blog with a fabulous lady, that also manages to create delicious magazines. i had visited her blog, but forgot to subscribe. yesterday i remembered it again and asides from adding it to my reader, i spent a few hours reading her stories and just delighted with the photography. today is just a little sneak-peek, but i do intend to bring this lady here for a cup of tea! this lady is jeanette lunde, the author of {fryd + design}.

everything that jeanette lunde writes is simple, but so full of meaning. her photography is colourful, simple… filled with light. it’s quite an inspirational blog filled with real-life stories… and beauty. and you should read… or re-read her magazine {2 by fryd}. i can never get enough of it… such amazing and stunning details. here is jeanette’s {blog}, say hello!!

so, from time to time, i receive some questions about the sources in which i look for content for this blog. and i thought it would be interesting to share something about this… i actually am on the search every single second that i spend on the web. but on the other hand, and i guess that like so many other bloggers, we are not exactly on the search… but good and excellent thing fall on our laps… and this was one of these situations.

a while ago when reading some of my favourite blogs… i found {hello tiger} and opened another page, pasted the link and it all started.

“my name is tiger and i live in stockholm, sweden. i study text design and media technology. i love great DIY ideas, interior design, scandinavian design, faux bois, porcelain, checkered dresses, cross stitch, devon rex cats and vegan food.”

{hello tiger} is written in swedish, but there are several post also written in english, so for all of you that like me (and i say this with a sad face… remember my thing about sweden?) do not speak swedish… it is a good thing! you can find several inspirations about decor, design and diy tutorials… that will actually link to {elle interior’s diy edition}, where originally tiger publishes her tutorials.

you will find great artists, designers & photographers…
if you are a fan of scandinavian style…
if you wish to sneak-peek into beautiful houses…
if you would like to learn how to do original things with your own hands…
this will be for sure your kind of blog…
promise you!

and now… go and say hello to {hello tiger} on her blog here
or delight yourself with {from scandinavia with love} here

oh, do not leave your seat… as in a few hours there will be an exciting post about {blogging}.
