monday’s favourites

and as promised i’m back with more monday’s favourites! i’ve been thinking about this one for quite a while now, because i’ve been noticing this trend for a few months. and as i’m turning into a interior design freak (just for the hours i spend on pinterest planning our interior decoration), i needed to share my latest design crush – copper! i am so in love with this material, the colour and the feel. it warms up a room and adds an extra character to it. and it would look so good in our living-room!

Interior Design Trend - Copper

there are a lot of lighting options, some of them quite expensive like the tom dixon lamp (441€… ouch!), but other ones really affordable like this diy project by jennifer hagler of a merry mishap, the copper vase! and yes, images 2 and 6 feature the same lamp, but both rooms are so beautiful, i couldn’t resist!

so what do you think about this trend? do you like this? would you add this colour to your rooms? leave your thoughts here! i’m also very into those simple-no-shade bulbs! i might get one of those some day!

house tour // random details

hello there and happy weekend! this is just a quick post to show some details of our new house. after moving in the end of september the truth is we’ve been merely combining things around and haven’t yet shopped for anything new, though we are much in need, like lamps, curtains and rugs (oh please, give me rugs!). but today i felt like taking a few pictures around some details to share with you.

one thing i’ve been noticing a lot, and actually still trying to figure that out, is the light in this house. i love the new house, it’s way bigger than our first one, but the light here is tricky. we don’t have as much light as we did, and for me that is kind of a bummer. but of course, the fact that we have a walk-in closet, an office for me, and a backyard makes it less important. the thing is when taking and editing the photos, i realized that it took me a while to get the editing done, feeling it right, because it’s such a different place. and the light available, either coming from windows or furniture itself is really important. oh ok, rambles of a photographer, nevermind, let’s see the place!

and these are my brand new flats and the floor we have on this place… love it so much! though i keep dreaming about painting in another colour, not white, but another colour. but those are just dreams, my landlord wouldn’t approve of course!

above, my inherited rotary black phone! love it and will also paint it in another colour! a spring project maybe! below is our hallway, in decent size now! it’s one of the two rooms in the house, which doens’t get any natural light. we have that lamp lit all day long to create a cozy mood when we pass through there. and the giant leaf from a plant on our backyard! just a little greenery here too! oh as you can see christmas is already showing in some details!

and these are from my office! plants, books, lenses and photos. the usual! there is still such a long way on this room, as well as in any other room to be honest! and yes, that is me and one of my best friends on top of an elephant in india! such a happy day for us! and this is it! will come back with more in a few weeks, i hope! and now let’s have fun on the weekend, shall we?

wednesday find :: white horse

hello there, how are you my friends? enjoying this wednesday? did you like the outstanding work of videoart storytellers that i brought to you yesterday? i hope you don’t mind about bringing so much about the wedding industry and i surely don’t want to turn this blog into a wedding blog, but as i told you, the industry in portugal is changing and i feel the need of spreading the word about those who are doing something different! but moving on to something i found recently through frankie magazinewhite horse home.

white horse home are frankie’s magazine sponsors and i clicked because the image with some pillows had me curious. and when i got to the website, i really enjoyed what i saw… the products are simple, but have some attitude and the images featuring the products are really interesting, with a nice interior styling displayed. and of course, give me something with a strong message like “today is a good day” screen printed on a white paper and you have me (i really need to learn this process!).

and i also enjoy their motto “white horse home exists to create simple pleasures for the home enthusiast. all of our products are 100% australian made. we source the very best materials from both near and far.” it’s so simple, isn’t it? simple products with clever and interesting designs… definitely something to create a better mood, or at least a different mood for the “home enthusiast”. of course i cannot leave without notice, the vintage objects they added to their styling shoots, as well as some plants, which for me is such a winner strategy! if you want to explore at your own pleasure, then go through their website, blog and of course, facebook!

ps. also note that wooden tripod on the 5th image… now that is something i’d love to have on my home! oh it would fit perfectly!

wednesday find :: jenna rose

hello there, how are you doing? after one morning cleaning things up around the house, this post is exactly what i needed! let me explain, i may have shared once or twice (or actually much more than that!) that we live on a very small house and though i’m good with that idea, when i start cleaning a room, it’s amazing how fast i start to scream at things and wishing for a bigger place! it’s also amazing how people think that living in a small house means much less to clean, therefore, so much easier to maintain. and ok, i can understand that, but there are other issues that actually influence the cleaning part, which is organization! my goodness, that is so hard sometimes! and during winter months it’s even more, due to all the huge coats around… and i’m “fortunate” to share this place with a mr twiggs that has a crush on coats!

so today i just wished that i could pause the week, do what i have to do around the house and then hit the play button to keep the week going! just for the blessing of having a day that doens’t count, so that i could clean and organize everything. and then with everything tidy i could finally start working in peace and harmony… and maybe i could get some of these storage bins (that for now don’t fit anywhere on this house) by jenna rose, but they are gorgeous!

i found this shop a while ago through a treasury, if i’m not mistaken and i fell in love by the fabrics, the handles, their design and the pictures themselves make me think of a countryside cottage. and i could use some days off on a countryside cottage on a far away country, with a fireplace. ok, i’m daydreaming! jenna rose is the mind and maker behind this shop on etsy and she does everything by her hand, starting by illustrations, screen-printing and sewing. she lives in canada with her husband and their dog!

“the jenna rose textile studio was founded by designer jenna fenwick in 2006 and is located in hamilton, ontario. each piece of cloth is hand screen printed in house using non-toxic waterbased pigments on natural and organic materials. our colours are all mixed and printed in small runs and each design is initially illustrated by hand. jenna holds a bachelor of fine arts degree from nscad university where her focus was screen printing and drawing. this collection is a reflection of her love for these processes and her passion for creating handmade and sustainable textiles.”

3. anatomy of a bicycle poster 4. tree house bucket

for more details on this talented lady you can read a full interview etsy did on her, as she was featured seller last january! other than that you have to visit her website, etsy shopblog and also follow her work on facebook! and i’ll go look around once more to see if i can find a place for that tree house bucket, which is my favourite! and i may need to learn how to knit, so that i can have it beautifully filled like on that picture above!
