so just for those curious ones, we went for a walk in the woods with mr kobe, then brunch on a new-to-us place, which we absolutely loved and will feature the place here for sure and a walk around príncipe real and its botanical garden. one of my pleasures in staying in lisbon during the weekend is to take the time to either stay at home without the work pressure or to embrace lisbon and go for long walks and brunch. eventually we meet some friends, have coffee and wander around a little bit. i took the camera and asides from a video of a group of people playing music in largo camões, i also captured the beautiful light of lisbon while it was getting darker.

i will make a post just with those pictures along with christmas lights in lisbon pictures i took yesterday as well. lisbon is so rich this time of the year! it’s cold, there are chestnuts sellers on every corner, people go out for comfort food with friends and it feels good to live in such a beautiful city.

ps. today i launched the new film photography blog! i hope you can also enjoy it! i was holding myself back from self-hosting that blog, but i couldn’t help it. i want to custom my own blog and work with it as i want, and i hated the limitations of a wordpress.com blog. so feel free to visit me at film summer days for some analogue adventures! it’s merely a personal blog!

stories from lisbon :: a casa do alentejo

hello lovely friends, how are you doing today? already making plans for the weekend? if you actually live in lisbon or if by any chance you are coming to lisbon this weekend, i have a very interesting suggestion for you! earlier this year i attended an event by simplesmente branco that was hosted on casa do alentejo. i was really excited to finally visit this place, as i had read about this place on a magazine and when i saw a picture of it i was amazed by the fact that that place existed in lisbon and 1) i had never heard of it and 2) it was completely out of anything i had seen in lisbon. when i attended the event i wasn’t able to take decent pictures of the whole place, just the room where the event was happening, but i came back later for a few pictures.

this place is situated on the same street as the coliseu, so i came from avenida da liberdade and couldn’t really resist taking pictures to the interesting architecture i found on the way. when you enter the street you can see this theater which is very well-known and very pretty inside as well, for those who were never here. and then on a very small door, almost unnoticed you find casa do alentejo.  as you get in, you might think you got in the wrong door, because it seems you are in morocco, instead of anything slightly portuguese. but that’s when the charm begins.

casa do alentejo is a typical portuguese restaurant which features in particular food from alentejo. the look of this place is this extravagant and has nothing to do with alentejo itself, because in fact this is a 17th century moorish palace, which now became a restaurant. even if you don’t have any intentions whatsoever of having lunch or dinner there, it is worth the visit to explore the corners and to embrace all this exotic atmosphere.

these are the details of the bathrooms, which look like something else different, like you are inside of an european palace. i don’t know enough about history or architecture to explain this, and maybe someone can actually explain this to me, but what matters the most is that this is a charming place to visit, full of surprises and you will want to just sit down and appreciate everything you’re looking at.

i hope you have enjoyed this place and have felt enough curiosity to find it and to explore it! and if you are coming to lisbon on vacations, feel free to explore the humble city guide i’m organizing!

simple things // taking a walk during a fall afternoon

this week i tried to look for another afternoon walk with mr kobe and right in the end of it i kept saying to myself that i needed to take that walk again the following day, at the same hour and to bring my camera with me, because the colours were amazing. we live close to the river but on a hill so we have a few viewpoints that are quite gorgeous, however as they are there every single day, what do we do’ we don’t notice them. so when i took this walk that i had taken other times previously i was amazed not only by the view over the river, but also because of the magical golden light reflected from a fall sun setting itself around 5pm. so this was what i saw this week…

this is exactly the essence of this feature, the simple things in life that we need to appreciate more and more, because they are simply good. for me the joy of taking pictures of this glorious sunset during a typical fall day is wonderful. and more even when my own dog collaborates and waits for me sitting quietly by my side. oh, see that church over there? i live right next to it! those rooftops completely fascinate me. it’s the magic of living in such a charming city, with no doubt! there are other cities that are quite glorious as well, but none is like this one. even if the only reason is because this is my city and i love it from the bottom of my heart! have a great friday friends!
