as últimas // the last ones

Instagram Hello Twiggs

ok, maybe these are not exactly the last ones, nor the first ones, but someway in the middle! the truth is that every day i think about gathering the last pictures from my instagram e paste them here, but you know how it goes, don’t you? the time goes by, another day ends and you once again didn’t do that one thing you wanted to do. but today i actually did it! finally! so what do we have here’ well, a few cliches, of course, but a lot of food, feet, lisbon and flowers! these are some of my favourite things (mr kobe missed this collection though!).

instagram is fun, of course it is and i knew i would love it! it’s a fun way to stay in touch with those you like, those you admire, but at the same time, how much closer will we get? do you remember the time when we had just home phones and analogue photo albums? we had to go to our friend’s house to see their vacation photos, and now we can almost be there with them!

so what do we have here?

- food, food, food! breakfasts and lunches! i love to prepare a nice breakfast, even during the week!
- my wheat day flowers!
- feet, feet and more feet! you know me and my feet photos, right? yes, another huge cliche, i know! but there are always so many cute details to be captured near my feet, like flowers, a spring shopping day, my new blanket…
- flowers and more flowers! i love seeing them, smelling them and being surprised by them on the walls, on the sidewalks, falling from trees… they are incredibly beautiful in their colours and a bit of sun flare here and there!
- and my beloved city! i found some new places this weekend and i am so excited to tell you all about it! my lisbon guide is about to grow!!

+ if you enjoy my lisbon photos, you can always go through my shop! today is the last day for buying with 20% off! so hurry! next sale, just in july!

a felicidade é… // happiness is…

someone arriving home, right on time for a much deserved break, with a bag of cookies from a bakery that is such a delight, being so small and so traditional! and all of this with a glass of cold milk seems heaven. cinnamon cookies, butter cookies and others we so happily call “sands”. some perfect with a glass of milk, others with the morning coffee. there are such simple things, that taste the same or even more than the very complicated and near impossible to get things. cold milk and cookies! these kind of things!

this saturday i went to “the” dinner

yes, you read it right, “the” dinner! this was an amazing and delightful event organized by little upside down cake and de alma e coração and the name was actually “the dinner” in portuguese – o jantar. it gathered close to 30 people on a very intimate and organic dinner, a winter dinner with friends, good food and a cozy mood with candle lights.

such a lovely evening! i sat next to sweet diana of in the mood for food, who was a guest here almost two years ago, and the lovely couple of piteira photography, kerry & luis. i also met an incredible illustrator named marta lee, so it was a very lovely evening with like-minded folks and good food! by the way, on that jar was lavender panna cotta with red fruits sauce and though i never quite understood this dessert, i have now delighted myself with it! i may have to attend their next dinner!

simple things // croissants do careca

hello friends, how are you? for all the american readers, did you have a nice thanksgiving evening? i hope so!! i guess that now we are officially on a countdown for christmas right? i’m so happy, i love this time of the year, i really love it! everything looks so pretty and it’s such a festive time! and of course, as soon as christmas goes by, as well as new year’s, the beginning of a new year is always exciting! but today we are merely ending another week and i want to end in perfection – with something really good! i mean this is that good! for those living here, you might already heard and tasted these delicious croissants, for those who don’t here’s a tip – you should definitely taste these! my friends, meet the croissants from the pastry shop called “restelo”, but definitely more famous and known by “o careca“, which means the bald one!

this pastry shop is rather simple, though it’s so famous! it’s just a pastry in a very well-known neighbourhood in lisbon, and a very traditional one as well. we live quite close, so we go there on our weekends for breakfast very frequently. they are always full with families having their breakfast and it’s quite interesting to see different generations visiting the place and you realize that they have been doing this for years. some couples going there with their children, started going there as kids for sure. it’s that traditional.

it’s a famous place for two things, these croissants and these palmiers. on this day we had gone for a long walk and stopped by the cafe to bring these home. light was already sparse, so this was the best i could, but i guess they look good enough to make you feel either curious or really hungry!

so don’t forget, if you happen to visit lisbon, this is also a place to visit! it’s not that close to the famous pastéis de belém and the monastery, but not that far either. it’s a quiet neighbourhood for you to walk through, with several embassies and huge family houses. so it’s a pretty place for a walk! have fun!
