{wednesday find} :: missibaba

hello there girls & boys, how are you doing? having a great time or really hard work this week? for me it has been a little of both, but ok, i assume that hard work has taken place more often! but we’ll go away on the weekend to be with mr twiggs parents at their beach house, so i’ll have time to relax and enjoy this amazing sun that has been delighting us all! so, what am i bringing to you today? something really girly and though i’m not a fashion victim, there are a few things that i absolutely love, but as i work from home, i don’t really dress up (just something casual as i need to walk mr kobe) or use accessories or even put on any make-up. and as i’m saving for this and usually spend the little money on this, i don’t have more money to spend on the girly aspects of life. i think i’m boring! ah! but today, i’ll share what makes my heart beat faster and smile like i’m seeing something really amazing! striped bags! hello? who invented this gorgeous pattern? and then i also lose my mind on triangles and large bags!

so who creates these? missibaba on etsy, or more appropriately chloe townsend. let’s see what is this all about!

“missibaba is a luxury accessory design label established five years ago by leather aficionado chloe townsend. passionate about south africa and supporting local industry, chloe opened her studio in the heart of woodstock, cape town, where she could surround herself with the best crafts- women in the country. combining technical skills learnt at the london college of fashion with an inherent passion for uninhibited creativity, chloe created the inimitable missibaba brand. a playground for all things leather, missibaba continues to experiment with texture and colour continuously pushing the boundaries of imagination.”

though i’m not actually a leather lover, i do love these patterns and designs. give me a large tote and i’m an happy girl! and stripes or triangles also make me quite happy as well! so, even not being a fan of leather, i appreciate these details like leather handles. i think they get this relaxed look, but also a very tough one, like “you can take me everywhere, put everything inside and i’ll handle it and still look good!” and that for me is quite a statement for a bag!

1. bag o’booty tote 2. bag o’booty tote 3. pouch in bright fuschia 4. tote and pouch blue stripes set

and then there is one other thing, summer calls for different bags, calls for totes, large totes so that we can take ourselves to the beach and still look good with our things! and though i’m not one of those organized girls that has an organizer for the bag itself, i do enjoy these small clutches. i’m always falling for one to put my make up on. you can find more about missibaba on their etsy shop and website, they are quite known in south africa and they are about to travel to london for a showcase! and this was it for today! tomorrow something really juicy is coming up!

{wednesday find} :: mes dames

hello my friends, how are you? are you having a good day? did you like what i prepared for you this morning? i feel hungry every time i look at that page. but now, let’s not talk about food, but about something else a little bit different – fashion! yes, today i bring you elegance, uniqueness and a modern classic style. two weekends ago i was reading this blog and suddenly bumped into this gorgeous photography work, with a model wearing the most elegant fabrics, but almost with a touch of vintage feeling. i was in love…

“mes dames creates feminine fashion in the intersection of the clean nordic and the sensual of the french. with materials of good quality and good fit, we want to give each carrier a sense of uniqueness and elegance. the expression is timeless, modern classic, and each collection runs a thread. we believe in a sustainable way to build up a wardrobe in which parts from different collections always can be combined to create a new whole. it is a philosophy that also cares about a more sustainable fashion in which the quality of the garments, cut and elegance make them modern for a longer period of time.”

though my photography work falls into a different style, it’s so interesting how connected we may feel with such different styles of work. i love these tones, the mysterious mood, the low contrast, the sense that there is no sun on that day, but only a few silver clouds. i love the sense of romance with the light peach colours, the floating skirts… everything from the clothes, to the model, location and the gorgeous work of anna malmberg, everything takes me out of where i am to another place. and i love when art makes me feel like this. i hope you have the time to explore mes dames website, as well as explore jessica comingore’s blog (did you know that jessica is the editor of the fabulous online magazine kinfolk?), where i originally found mes dames.

ps. for the portuguese moms & dads, what are you thinking about doing for father’s day? how about a photo session with your lovely family? read more here!

friday i am in {love} with…

…a spring valentine’s day. well, actually we don’t care much about valentine’s day. not that we’re not romantic… well, actually we’re not that romantic, but i believe that love is about accepting the other as is and growing together. that being said, there is also the fact that mr twiggs is not the kind of man that shows me his love when i want to, but he knows exactly when i need him to. so valentine’s day is something that we don’t celebrate, so that we can enjoy random surprises or going-out-to-dinner plans! but on the other hand, valentine’s day is all around us right now and as we are having quite sunny (though very cold) days, i thought it would be nice to celebrate valentine’s day outside, pretending to feel a warmer temperature, so that we can take a walk out to lunch, and then get back home to be surrounded by beautiful new things. or you can also call this “honey, i’m looking gorgeous and i want these things for our home as valentine’s gifts!”.

oh and one other thing, while i was in new york i also fell in love with two stores, j. crew and crate & barrel. i already knew these online, but delighted myself visiting the actual stores and… shopping! not much, but at least the flats below came with me. how could they not? so today everything comes from these two stores! enjoy!

1. refined silk-cashmere wrap 2. sequin-stripe v-neck sweater 3. braided leather belt 4. enamel stripe oval bangle 5. toothpick jean in garment-dyed twill 6. enamel locket necklace 7. biennial satchel 8. classic leather ballet flats

1.zing green table lamp 2. anora 18″ pillow 3. woven picnic basket 4. citrus stripe mug 5. chase yellow plate 6. hailey shadow throw

oh and don’t go away, because soon i’ll be back with something more for valentine’s day… or any other day you wish to celebrate something happy!
