wednesday find :: morning calm

hello there sweet friends, how are you doing? for those who live here in portugal, i bet you’re loving the sun that decided to appear, sharing some warmth with us, right? well, last monday i shared one of my favourite blogs and a few weeks ago, jennifer had a giveaway going on her blog by morning calm. and though i usually do not enter these, i decided to participate and i was really happy when she wrote back saying that hwasoon decided to give something to the 2nd and 3rd winners of the giveaway and that i had been one of those lucky winners! i was really thrilled, because morning calm is such a beautiful shop, filled with incredible handmade soaps, lotions and balms. i’ve always felt curious to try these handmade things and now i had that chance! when the order arrived, i was like a little child unwrapping the brown paper bag and discovering all the goodies inside.

hwasoon had decided to gather a few handmade soaps (like the ones above), two lip balms, two washable cleasing oils and three little soaps heart and flower shaped. the smell as soon as i unwrapped the bag was amazing, i just hope that you could smell these from there where you’re standing! but now one question – who is hwasoon after all?

“i was a backpacking traveller for some years, a meditator and a teacher. but now i am a happy soap maker living in korea. i create cold processed soaps by adding a special curing step for 48 hours, keeping the temperature under 113℉ (45℃). so that the soaps have full saponification and retain vitamins, proteins and other abuntant nutrients in oils. the end result is beautifully mild bars of soap. i use asian herbs and organic tea leaves to get extra joy!! i’d love to share it with you.”

asides from the smell that comes from the package and every single product, the paper that was used to wrap each product is also really soft, adding much more to your customer experience. each product also has a tag with a handwriting type of font, that makes you wonder if hwasoon wrote each one by herself… i believe that she hasn’t, but nevertheless, is so sweet of her to use this kind of font, because you feel closer to the seller this way. and as you may have noticed, i’m extremely picky on customer service and love all these details that the seller puts into the order.

morning calm was actually a featured shop a few months ago on etsy, so if you click here, you’ll be able to read the full story and get to know hwasoon a little bit better. she’s incredibly sweet and i would love to see her doing all these soaps and preparing these oils and balms. when you use something that is handmade, and you actually know the face and the hands that worked in order for you to be enjoying that product is something really amazing. i put on some rose lip balm and the smell of those tiny roses was so abundant. and yes, after at least one hour my lips feel like i just used the lip balm now. you can also follow her on her blog and facebook, and of course, don’t go away without exploring her shop and why not ordering something sweet for you or as a gift for someone you love? enjoy your wednesday!

{wednesdays on etsy} :: happy dappy bits

so, you are looking for some cheerful bits? some colourful details? some last-minute ideas for your gifts this year? i have what you are looking for! you know i am crazy about notebooks, right? and it was actually a notebook that made me click on an etsy daily newsletter and find this shop… {happy dappy bits}.

i love these cheerful details… shapes, patterns, colours… everything makes me smile and wanting to grab it all! and i love when i find a shop that has so many different things, and yet all seem to be matching within each other! when exploring a little bit more about this shop and the lovely lady behind it, we can find this…

“my name is jane, sometimes i go by janie. :) ny story: i was a full-time corporate graphic designer for many years before venturing off on my own (scary and exciting!) to pursue my passion for design and photography in a more hands-on way. my love of colors and patterns, stuff that rhymes, all things cute, happy and cheerful could not be restrained…and happy dappy bits was officially born!”

“you will find eco-friendly, witty, geeky, quirky, ridiculously happy cards & paper goodies in my shop — handmade with love by yours truly. and, although email is one of the best inventions ever, nothing compares to something you can touch and feel in your hands. nature and the environment are very important to me too, so all of my designs are made from 100% quality recycled papers and tree-free linen papers.”

i believe that jane made her finest choice when she decided to start this project and open this shop… you can find out more on the {etsy shop}, {website} and {blog}… enjoy your day!

{wednesdays on etsy} :: yellow heart art

hello there lovelies, how are you doing today? plenty of things to do? tomorrow thanksgiving will be celebrated by our american friends, so i imagine that if you celebrate thanksgiving you are already excited for that evening, right? well, we do not celebrate thanksgiving, but i think this should be an opportunity for everyone in the world to think about the good things… we’ll talk about that later! so following this good things idea, i want to share with you something i found two weeks ago, i think… it all started by fabric pendant necklace with a… vespa! and i fell in love with this shop when i clicked to see more! here is {yellow heart art}.

i feel like “favouriting” the whole shop… i love the colours, the fabrics, the motifs… everything sounds so delicious and seems to put a smile on my face… the name behind this delicious shop is leonora and she has a great sense of humor. just read what she wrote on etsy:

“yellow heart art was created by me (leonora jennifer) in an effort to stop suffering from the “white wall blues”. what are the white wall blues you ask? well, i’ll tell ya. the “white wall blues” is a growing epidemic that must be stopped immediately. people everywhere are suffering from having bare walls in their homes and not having any artwork to hang up.

enter me! (this is where i enter into your home, in a cape and possible a way awesome super hero mask to save you from your drab decor. i promise i’ll use the doorbell and wipe my feet as i come in and not bust through your wall all “kool-aid man” style-esque. let’s be honest, sheet rocking a wall is super annoying so why bother making such a grand entrance like that any way. you would probably be super mad at me and not buy my art because, well, now you need to buy new sheet rock–and to be honest i wouldn’t blame ya.)

i’m a graphic designer, photographer and fine artist. all my work comes from here (oh, right, this is the internet…you can’t see where i’m pointing–when i say “here” i’m pointing to my heart). i love staring at a blank screen, staring at a blank canvas or staring down the view finder of my camera and filling that space with something–anything–and letting people into my world using my art.”

i can almost hear her talk with a huge smile on her face as well! and she sure has some really nice taste! let me show you more… some of my favorites on her shop!

this last one would be perfect for my brother-in-law who loves vespas, owns one and knows everything about them (hence the several vespas prints i have!). you can find more about leonora on her {blog}… and the usual suspects, {etsy} & {facebook}!
