sneak-peek blogs :: i art u

hello there lovely friends, how are you doing? did you have a nice weekend? i was busy all saturday shooting a wedding and it was quite fun, everything was beautiful, the weather was amazing almost like a miracle and it was a beautiful party! i was so honored to be a part of their day and i even felt moved on the final part with a song and everyone letting go their balloons. if i had hugged the bride congratulating her for the beautiful ceremony i would have burst into tears! and that moment made me realize once again that a wedding is so much more than details, flowers, dresses, shoes and invitations. in the end, it’s all about the love between two people and the celebration of that love with their families and friends. and now they are flying to japan and i just hope they have this amazing honey-moon!

well, but moving on to what brought me today, a blog that i follow and that i love – i art u. jennifer young is a lifestyle photographer that started this blog in 2009 when she and her husband relocated from southern california to central california. and i art u is all about what she loves and her own personal photo work. and if you know me, i do love blogs with a personal twist. something that take us into the world of someone else on the other side of the world, living a completely different life.

asides from being such a friendly gal, she likes really cool things… like the ones i love as well… know what i mean? ah!

“things i obsess over? natural light, authentic moments, understanding and appreciating the process of creating, travel, café hopping, dinner with friends, creative details, and finding beauty in simplicity. i love getting to know new people and i enjoy sharing the talents of this online creative community and beyond. it’s all about community! “

jennifer does take amazing photos and i love to see that side of the world where she lives, the shops, the cafés, the plants, the daily life and also professional side of her life. that is one of the things that drives me into a blog and makes me want to keep reading it. lately it has been quite a topic on the blogland the fact that a lot of bloggers only share the beautiful parts of their lives, and maybe some readers are getting a little bit tired of so much beauty and less reality, well… that is why i love blogs like jennifer’s, because she adds much more that just beauty. she writes about places she enjoys, things she walks by, brands she loves, and she has one amazing sponsors list, the kind that makes you want to click on everything and explore a whole new world! for more on jennifer, explore her blog, portfolio and follow her on facebook!

sneak-peek blogs :: the forest feast

hello there lovely friends, how are you doing today? how sweet is this monday that actually feels a bit like friday, as tomorrow is an international holiday? feels good, right? and in order to make you feel even better, i’m sharing something really really good today! if i had to choose someone to be really jealous about, and by this i mean that nice good jealous (not the green envy one!), i would choose this girl who is behind this blog! so first let me introduce her to you. her name is erin gleeson and she worked for many years as a food photographer in new york city. but in november 2011 she moved to a cabin in the woods in northern california and this is actually the really-jealous-part!

because asides from her work (i’ll get on to that right away), she lives in this gorgeous cabin, in the most enchanting woods and i couldn’t ask for more. the city girl in me obviously fights with the let’s-wake-up-to-the-birds-and-among-the-highest-trees-girl. i don’t know if it’s the photographer in me, or just because i fell in love with kevin costner’s version of robin hood and the all group that lived on the trees, but her photos from the woods and cabin are really amazing! and about her work? well, she does something really cool and that is why i’m sharing her blog today! she shares recipes on her blog called the forest feast, so far that is pretty common, but the way she does it, is actually far from common, she makes it feel like it’s the easiest thing on earth and she does it through illustrations and photos of the ingredients.

if you’re used to explore food blogs, sometimes they seem to reach a level of perfection that doesn’t go that well with me, though visually they are so appealing and some are really good, others tend to be so perfect and out of reach that fall in that category of “too-much-for-me”. and when i landed on the forest feast via miss moss, i was so amazed by erin’s capacity of illustrating a recipe, as well as making the steps seem so easy and quick. working from home, it may seem we have a lot of time to prepare meals, but the truth is that we don’t, because we’re working (that is why it’s called working from home!) and sometimes it actually seems that our time is even less for those homey tasks.

so, i will leave you now with this suggestion for your holiday and i hope you can feel really inspired to cook some of these meals and also to watch robin hood again (oh it’s so good! remember the bryan adams song?)! have a great monday!

ps. have you considered my challenge?

{sneak-peek blogs} :: nordic bliss

hello there lovely friends! how are you doing and how has the week started? first of all, i have to thank you for all the kind messages regarding my last post. this has become frequent, but from time to time i feel the need to share what’s going on here, and sometimes it’s not always good things or pleasant moments. other for one reason or the other, and though i believe that blogging should be about a good mood, inspiration and stories, i also want this to be real and the truth is that reality has its so-so or down moments as well. the good thing is that whenever i write something that is more personal than the usual, i know that i will reach some of you, because you feel related to what i wrote or just because you are that good friend that takes the time to write a few nice words. and if you blog like me, you’ll know that this means so much to whoever is reading what you wrote. and now good things (no, not any news from my laptop or hard drive, neither have been saved so far, because no one called yet), but a good and beautiful design blog from the uk, that actually comes from norway!

“my name is marianne and i was born in norway a few decades ago. when it comes to style i have stayed true to my roots as my fascination with the nordic style and scandinavian design won’t seem to go away despite having lived in the uk for almost 5 years now. i am married to a tall, blonde and blue eyed swede and my mother is danish. so i’ve covered scandinavia pretty well! we have opened a little web shop that will be selling nordic brands that are not so well known in the uk yet.”

you know i have a thing for scandinavian blogs and general nordic style blogs that often are written in a language i don’t speak, nor understand a single word. but fortunately this is no the case! nordic bliss is written in english by the lovely marianne and it’s filled with beautiful and clean images exactly inspired in the nordic style and scandinavian design. she  shares bits of her own home, but she also shares the work of other artists that she admires, blogs that she reads (i actually got hooked to this one, because of her suggestion), diy projects and so much more!

as marianne stated, they opened a little web shop and my, oh my, it’s filled with gorgeous objects, textiles, accessories and furniture! i think that i might be successfl if i ask her to open a second shop here in portugal, because i know a lot of people who would love some of her things at home! though we are much more latin, appreciate colours and our homes have much more sun, because we’re located almost in the south of europe, we do appreciate all this clean look and straight lines. but it’s curious because i found several objects on their shop that actually made me remind of morocco, like this tray, these bowls and this candle holder. and i must confess that my favourite is this lamp!

so if you are in need of some new blogs to read, some spring design inspiration for the next weeks, i’ll suggest going through nordic bliss! marianne is a very nice lady and will inspire you for sure! have a lovely day my friends!

p.s. have you been following my film adventures?

{sneak-peek blogs} :: fjeldborg

oh you know my love for scandinavian blogs, right? those that are written in languages i cannot understand, and most of the times google does not even show up to help out a bit… but those amazing images of white rooms, windows with snow… or a daily life in different cities and countries with such a different culture… oh that is enough for me to subscribe and follow and devour their photography. oh how rude of me, did not even say hello! how are you lovelies? did you have a good weekend? i spent a very different weekend from what i am used to, because due to my sickness, that was not actually flu, but something about my liver… i was on diet and still am on diet. which bothers me the most, because i love to eat and being able to eat only grilled things, teas and toasts is driving me crazy. not that i do not like all these things, but i prefer to eat what i feel like and not have to eat something because i have to. but other than that, i am now feeling well thank you! so the blog i have to share with you today is of course, scandinavian… norwich to be more precise.

for what i was able to translate and understand, {fjeldborg} is the name of the blog and it is the name of the house…. built in 1925. ingrid and vidar are the ones living inside this beautiful place, which according to ingrid is always changing. their home was the thing that caught my eye… and i bumped into their blog by reading once again (i read this magazine so many times!) {2 by fryd}, designed by the lovely jeanette lunde of {by fryd}… who by the way has promised a #3! i was once again reading her magazine and i was drooling again over this beautiful house… all white, but filled with pops of colour and the most clever and stylish use of patterns and fabrics. and so i thought “oh well, let me go over their blog and see more!”… and it all started here!

ingrid is a freelance designer and vidar is a web-developer and they both strive for their creative life… inside this beautiful home. ingrid’s office is the perfect example how offices filled with things can look beautiful… and also the perfect example that makes me want to question myself all the time “why does my office has so many things… yet not this beautiful?”

needless to say that ingrid is starting to share her little christmas decorations… and when nature comes inside i am already a fan… and on another mind set completely different, this plate above is making me feel so hungry… and yet, it is filled with food i cannot eat right now!

i know that living in such cold countries would drive me crazy, but i would love the chance to try a few months at the very least… this time of the year must be really gorgeous! oh yes, i am that typical! don’t come on to me with christmas in miami or rio de janeiro with hot temperatures, because i will not fall into those! give me snow, give me santa, give warm rooms inside with warms blankets and cozy meals with everyone feasting inside! and that is christmas for me! you can explore more of this blog {here}… say hello to ingrid for me, will you?
