local markets :: arminho

hello there, how are you doing? i’m so happy that everything starts to fall into its place here at home! though my back still needs more rest! oh well, just give me time! so today we have a full day, though half of it already gone around here, answering emails that were longing for an answer (if you were waiting for something from me, sorry for the delay, but i guess it’s covered now!). i have a lot of news, maybe i’ll just spread them around the week! so, to begin with, let’s talk about the portuguese rockstars for the day – arminho! this business is owned by joão and raquel, a couple from a small town on the west of portugal!

i am so in love with their work! it’s so beautiful, so different from what we usually see around here! and as a paper goods lover, i kind of envy them for printing beautiful letterpress posters! joão was actually a guest here already on local markets, under the name gennebra, the other etsy shop he has (or had, i’m not quite sure). and after that i featured arminho on  another post, but this time, as their work evolved so much to a brand new line of notebook and educational charts, i thought i really needed to mention them again!

“welcome to arminho paper-shop! we are a couple who lives in a peaceful city near by the atlantic ocean. we love to make some paper goods and another crafts works and here you can find some of the things that we do. hope you like it as we do!”

Paper Ephemera - Arminho

joão and raquel are a couple in love with paper goods and the old fashion things! they own a vintage etsy shop, filled with amazing finds from flea markets and a paper goods shop, where they work with charming techniques like letterpress and hand-marbled paper (their new release). their notebooks with either tribal patterns and colours, or nature inspired details are so unique and beautifully presented that you feel like wanting them all in your hand! and they also have posters, vintage inspired educational charts with wooden slats to give a much more interesting mood to your wall! my favourite is (so obviously) this one below!

actually everything on this desk is really a charm! i’d love to take some pictures to their office, as i was on their flickr and couldn’t stop going from one image to another, just to find out more details of their work! it’s quite enchanting to see someone here working like this! i keep repeating this, because i love letterpress and i got to know what was letterpress, when i started reading blogs. and all of a sudden there was this beautiful technique that was made with the use of strong, heavy iron machines i never had heard about. but i do love the way prints are presented! so to know someone that actually owns these machines and asides of printing posters, also create original and unique notebooks is indeed a pleasure!

so, as we met our rock stars for the day, i hope you feel inspired and check their etsy shop and flickr to find out more about them!

wednesday find :: olive box

oh my, i’m such a happy girl when i find nice things! have you found something that made you think “oh man, can i pretend i invented this?” or “can i just move into this store and pretend that i own it?”, i believe i’m not alone on this and you have already felt this way! i know i felt this way when i found room6 (what is this??? such a cool and beautiful spot to work!), i loved when i found umba box (such a lovely banner logo!) and now i felt that way again when i found olive box!

first the name is sweet, i’m a true fan of olive colour (hence my love for mrs olive green!) and the website is so lovely with all the pastel colours and sweet illustrations and watercolour (oh watercolour, i’m currently obsessed with it!). the idea behind it is quite innovative, and though it’s not original, there are not many of these kind of businesses yet. and i just love paper!

Olive Box

so what is olive box?

“here at olivebox, we have always loved snail mail and paper goods of all kinds. their beauty, their timelessness, the effort implied in their delivery is all so much more meaningful than anything electronic. after an age of electronic everything, we are finally back to being excited over beautiful, handwritten letters and receiving a physical gift in the mail. everyone is so busy these days and we think it’s time to press pause. take a moment to enjoy the journey, and savor that moment whenever you get the chance.”

Olive Box

“to share this joy we are excited to introduce our new olivebox subscription service! as a member you will receive a delightful box of paper & lifestyle products delivered to your front door each month. from cards to artwork to inspiring books and gifting ideas, you never know what exciting products you will unwrap each month. each box will have a surprise theme and will include goodies that have been transformed by the beauty of paper.”

Olive Box - How it works?

now isn’t this just sweet? i love receiving packages and they make me remind of when i was little and my american parents would send me packages with girly goodies from the states! in portugal we didn’t have half the offer american had, regarding kids’ stuff, so i was always so delighted to see the mail man arriving with a box for me! and if you are a lover of paper goods, you’ll love olive box for sure! you can also find them on facebook for more daily dose of goodness!

particularly speaking i love everything that comes in the form of postcards or stamps! i have no idea how have i resisted in having a stamp for my business until now (well, i’ve thought about that, just haven’t come up with this really awesome idea!). and going through this shop also makes me smile at the beautiful colours they chose, the designs that are simple, yet so effective in making me feel some tender in my heart (see this one, for instance!). when you talk about paper and someone that wishes to design something in paper, well it’s actually important to care about the paper. our paper shop uses brilliant paper that according to what i’m able to see, it seems so soft and delicate!

asides from cards, stationery, rubber stamps and calendars, they also feature paris life postcards! i hope they keep on going with other cities too! that would be just lovely! i enjoy the black and white tones on these photos!

and if you didn’t have enough about this gorgeous paper shop, you can delight yourself with the lookbook for 2012… it’s has beautiful photography and has this light spring mood in the air! and i think you’ll want to send a postcard to someone you love after seeing this! also some behind the scenes here, for those who enjoy these! and after the lookbook, you can also fly over to their shop and blog, to know all about the news!

{wednesdays on etsy} :: happy dappy bits

so, you are looking for some cheerful bits? some colourful details? some last-minute ideas for your gifts this year? i have what you are looking for! you know i am crazy about notebooks, right? and it was actually a notebook that made me click on an etsy daily newsletter and find this shop… {happy dappy bits}.

i love these cheerful details… shapes, patterns, colours… everything makes me smile and wanting to grab it all! and i love when i find a shop that has so many different things, and yet all seem to be matching within each other! when exploring a little bit more about this shop and the lovely lady behind it, we can find this…

“my name is jane, sometimes i go by janie. :) ny story: i was a full-time corporate graphic designer for many years before venturing off on my own (scary and exciting!) to pursue my passion for design and photography in a more hands-on way. my love of colors and patterns, stuff that rhymes, all things cute, happy and cheerful could not be restrained…and happy dappy bits was officially born!”

“you will find eco-friendly, witty, geeky, quirky, ridiculously happy cards & paper goodies in my shop — handmade with love by yours truly. and, although email is one of the best inventions ever, nothing compares to something you can touch and feel in your hands. nature and the environment are very important to me too, so all of my designs are made from 100% quality recycled papers and tree-free linen papers.”

i believe that jane made her finest choice when she decided to start this project and open this shop… you can find out more on the {etsy shop}, {website} and {blog}… enjoy your day!
