friday i’m in love with…

… white and clear rooms! oh my have i struggled with this point or what? yes, we’re talking about interior styling again, bear with me please! today is one of those days in which i have so much to say, but i feel so tired as well. yesterday i spent the whole afternoon and early evening cleaning, dusting and decluttering our home (i may have a few tips for you on this!). i was exhausted by the end of the day, but so happy. yet today i feel that i have so much to do in our home, so many unfinished businesses, and my head doesn’t stop wondering where else i can get a little more space. after two huge garbage bags out the door and one even larger with clothes i don’t wear any more and don’t plan on to, the house feels a little more refreshed and airy. however i struggle with so many details! and it’s like my head is not rested until all these points are figured out and solved.

do you ever feel like this with your home? moving on… we desperately need a new couch. we have a really small one that has lost one arm due to mr kobe’s teeth growing issues while he was young. but this particular characteristic on our couch, actually turns out to be quite handy for the little mr (see picture below!)! but this would be my dream couch (that fabric is sooo gorgeous and feels so comfortable) and i can’t figure out a way of having one in our small living-room (or even afford one)!

second issue, the rug! oh man, i’m so tired of this rug (see picture below)! it was cheap but i must say it has handled a lot in these last years, specially after adopting mr kobe. the thing is when you have a dog is pretty much like having kids around, things need to be resistant to daily wear, stains, shoes, dog hair, dog teeth… you name it! and mr kobe did tried this rug on every corner! but as i have a brownish floor (which i romantically names it caramel in the beginning!), the house is small so i need lighter colours whenever i can, to make it feel larger and take advantage of all the light that comes in during the day (one of the best things in this house), but i also have a dog, which means that no white rugs will be a good idea! so i thought about a bege one. what do you think about this one here or even this one?

and then the table. i am a fortunate working-from-home-lady, because i have a huge table! it was first bought to be the main table for our meals in the living-room, but then i stole it for my own office purposes and bought this one for the meal purposes. but i’m also starting to think that if i change tables again, i might have more room to that couch! or perhaps selling the table in which i work on and buying a new table, another white one!

the forth issue might the tele (let’s read this in a very brittish accent, shall we?). one thing, i hate it! my mother in law wasn’t using it anymore so she gave it to us, as ours was pretty small, but then our country was out of the analogic signal and we had to buy a very ugly equipment in order to have tv again, which actually stopped working two weeks after we bought it and we never solved the issue. so we’re out of tv for a couple of months now, it doesn’t bother us at all, so now it’s a huge black thing on top on a very nice white expedit shelving unit.

do any of your guys have given up on having a tv? it’s not about turning it on or off, it’s about not having the thing at all! i much rather prefer a sound system, than a new slim lcd, unless it was white! ok, maybe i’d go with a white lcd! oh well, i’ll probably keep on going with these doubts, but right now i think i’ll just concentrate on what has been done and how bright and organized my living room feels like! and also i might start bothering you with my bedroom plans! yes, i have plans for the bedroom as well! have a nice weekend, folks!

ps. remember both shops are having a free shipping sale thru july 31st!

friday i’m in love with…

… polaroids! i just got my beloved “instant love” book today and if there’s one thing on my wishlist, it certainly is a polaroid! but the vintage ones! and it’s not because these are cooler or whatever reason you may thing of, the true reason is they are so gorgeous! yes, that reason! i want to put my hands on an old and vintage, but amazingly charming polaroid sx-70, because asides from the magical thing about using polaroids, these are extremely beautifully made. it’s like my yashica, i like it for the weight, and the mix of black leather and silver.

the book was written by jenifer altman, susannah conway and amanga gilligan, quite known in the blog world and for being absolute lovers and followers of the polaroid movement! well, i could even say that these ladies created a whole polaroid movement themselves! they even organized a retreat in morocco this last june for polaroid lovers. now that would be a dream! morocco must be such a lovely place to take hundreds, if not thousands of pictures!

this video is so magical… i think that i bought the book 30 seconds after i saw this video! and i felt the urge of shooting small flowers, dressed in a beautiful summer dress. and i think that polaroid brings back that magical feeling. asides from the fact that you take a picture and you have it in your hands moments after that, it’s the whole mood on the image. the colours, the haziness, the dreamy feel.

and this is it for today! a new weekend is right around the corner, and i just hope for you to have a lot of fun, relaxed moments! it’s for that reason that we actually have a summer season! by the way, what books are you guys reading? i’m not much of a reader actually, so i jump of joy whenever i buy a book, even if it’s not a novel, a romance or a fiction book, but a book like this! last year i bought this one by jose villa! so you see my point on books, right? have a great weekend!

friday i’m in love with…

… my wishlist on pinterest! first, you can follow me on pinterest if you’d like! second, i usually pin from time to time, and i like to see my boards all organized! and also from time to time, i re-arrange them and delete some old pins, or something of my own that i don’t actually love anymore. i also try to delete all those pins without a proper link to source (it’s a matter of respect!) and i absolutely hate when the source is something really specific like… tumblr.com. that’s like google. it’s a whole world there! (by the way, read my experience on searching for original sources here)!

so i was organizing my boards (and stunned by the number of boards i have) and ended up looking at my the wishlist board! i fell in love with so many of the items there, some are not even available now! but it got me thinking about what i would love today. and this is the story of how i got to build this wishlist here!

by the way, that font up there, is my handwriting! i managed to do this! phew! i’m really gonna try more often! so let’s talk about this list, shall we? first that tote! i love fabric and handle brand! so simple, so beautiful! then i’d love to get my hands on a skinny coloured jeans, whether green or light pink, coral, that’s on my wishlist now… and some golden sandals as well! then i would love to try some iced coffee! yap, i never tried it, people here drink expressos like there’s no tomorrow and i drink a huge cup of coffee in the morning every single day! all my american friends talk about this and that recipe seems delicious (and this one as well, via emmadime)! and then i end up with a really stunning and comfortable living-room! we have the smallest couch on earth. usually one of us is there and shares the rest with mr kobe. and i’ve been thinking so much about a couch that could fit for all three of us + that would do to just rest my feet on it! wouldn’t that be great for a weekend? oh by the way, when you click on the #4 to check the living-room, you might as well check the whole house! it’s amazing!
