yesterday i went shopping! ok, let’s rewind a little bit, you must have heard me saying that i’m not in any case a fashion victim and often i buy other things first, before buying anything to wear. it wasn’t always like this and it doesn’t mean i don’t care. yes, you have heard me saying this thousands of times! as you have heard me saying that even if not a fashion victim, if not thrilled for something that is hot at the moment, i love to be pretty and to have nice things. last week i was noticing that i have several items bought in the well-known online shop la redoute that have lasted for years and years! there are things that look exactly the same as the time i bought them and it’s funny to notice that some are things that have remained in the list of my favourites, because they are so my style.
so yesterday i went shopping again for the new season and in the comfort of my home (love this!), so i cannot wait for my order to arrive and to check if everything was indeed available! and there are new colours on my wardrobe, yes!!!
and yes, my wardrobe is not that great in terms of having colours and different colours, but with the move and having two wardrobes instead of one, will help me separate the goods and make it look better and easier to choose in the morning! so, what are your favourite colours for this season? share, share, share!
if you enjoyed this post, please speak it up! leave a comment!
good morning lovelies, how was your weekend? mine was good, starting with a delicious typical portuguese food dinner + fado on friday, working on a beautiful indoor maternity photo shoot on saturday and yesterday i was dragged by mr twiggs to see batman for almost three hours and i couldn’t have had more fun! i loved the movie and christian bale was quite amazing in his role!
so today i wanted to bring to you some of my monday’s favourites and though i usually do not talk much about clothes or fashion, i’m tired of not paying attention to those things. i don’t follow fashion blogs, because usually they are just about fashion and make-up and most of the times, they follow brands that are way too expensive for me and i couldn’t care less about the last marc jacobs it bag (see how clueless i am, there’s probably not a single it bag by marc jacobs!). but i do like to know what is good, well designed and beautiful!
fashion is a need, but also serves as a statement, to at least those who think of it that way. for me is a need, but somehow a slight statement as well. i’m not a fashionista, nor a fashion victim, but i do have my style and i think i recognize a strong personality (in a fashion kind of way), when i see it. and of course, not having money for everything makes me usually spend on clothing just when i really really need it, and not when i think something’s nice. it’s always a matter of need and not pleasure.
but pleasure comes with those needs. and though i do not see myself as a superficial woman, i love to buy new things and to feel good about my new things. it’s like a refreshment for my ego! and we do need to take care of our egos, not just too much. and there’s nothing wrong about feeling good about buying new shoes, new handbags and new make-up, just for the sake of pleasure. i got to this point after years of buying just for the sake of need. and though i probably won’t have money to change that, it makes me feel good to browse through some label with nice things for the new season. and i happen to love fall! and that’s when i found about les composantes via miss moss. good gracious, this is one beautiful collection! morgane sezalory is the woman behind it and just like me, she’s a self-taught designer!
i love the colours, that are perfect for fall, the textures, the relaxed mood, the photography and the design. so beautiful and soft! they are not cheap, but on the other hand, how could they be? wouldn’t make any sense! but they are not ridiculously expensive either. i think it’s that price that you can save for and if you get that piece, it will make you really happy, you know what i mean? when was the last time that you saved to buy yourself something? isn’t that so precious as well? i have my eyes on that #1 dress! it’s the same as the one you see on #8!
so are you looking for something in particular this fall?
“what should i wear for the maternity session?” as a lifestyle photographer, i get asked this kind of question a lot! the truth is my answer is always the same for all kinds of photo sessions, wear something comfortable for you, avoid the matchy-matchy, but don’t give me way too different patterns. and of course, for moms-to-be, i always ask them to wear something happy, comfortable (super important for these ladies!) and something that will make the beautiful belly stand from the rest! there’s a baby there and we’re celebrating that baby! lately i’ve been doing a few maternity photo sessions and will have another one next week or so. so i’m right on the middle of planning and styling for a beautiful maternity photo session! oh and i usually send them to my pinterest board on maternity sessions for some inspiration! these are some of my favourites!
and yes, that 3rd picture is my own work! i absolutely loved this session! it was such a beautiful and happy pregnant lady! those first 3 pictures are about white clothes and/or dresses. it looks perfect for a pregnant lady! put a belt on it and you’re good to go and beautiful! and of course, for an indoor photo session, there could be no belt, for a more intimate mood. 4th is a bit more colourful, but shows the perfect way to match a dress and a cheerful cardigan! and this last one is from the hatch collection, which i found out to be one amazing shop for pregnant ladies with style! how gorgeous are these outfits?
hi there lovelies, how are you doing? oh my, the heat around here continues, it’s nearly impossible to be outside. even mr kobe is having a hard time to choose a place to have his naps! poor thing! well, but let’s talk about something that is really pretty and cool for summer – fashion for summer days! you know me, no fashion victim here and i bet that all my girl friends, working outside their home have a way better closet than i! i don’t work on my pj’s (and i honestly don’t understand those who do), i get dressed every single day, but truth be told, there’s no one here making a list of the outfits i repeat all over the week! and i may repeat a few! so, sometimes i get dragged to some really nice fashion blogs (also i’m being very honest when i say i don’t have a single one on my reader), and today i found one via the fresh exchange (really nice blog as well, you really need to check this one out!) and sweet megan listed a few of her favourite fashion blogs and i loved one – kendi every day! and i found that kendi has a day job, which is a clothing store filled with really beautiful things, named bloom!
ok, so let’s talk about fashion! i love this look #1, it’s actually shouting twiggs all over it! even the hair, though i have bangs! but this is really really my style! so the common thing between these two outfits? the jeans and the lose tops. i love to have these discreet tops, that are light and perfect for summer days!
keeping up with the skinny jeans and lose tops! i really love that first asymmetric blouse and the birds top on the second photo! i can only imagine how light these fabrics feel and how perfect these are for any occasion! either you go out with a friend for ice cream, or a meeting with a client, both are perfect!
and then we have this skirt, that seems so lovely with the large stripes, the casual belt, so nautical, but avoiding the usual navy blue tone! and the second blouse, in pastel colours, also fresh and light, perfect for summer evenings when you feel that fresh breeze in the air! and below, the jewerly, i absolutely love how thin these necklaces are and how discreet! i know the value of a nice statement necklace, but most of the times i could go with one like this!
and now a few words on kendi, the owner of this beautiful shop and also a blogger!
“in 2009, i started blogging as a simple way to share my outfits that no one cared about in a little town i lived in. since then ive left that sweet little town and live in north dallas where i’ve opened up a clothing store called bloom. i have a husband and a dog. one is a wedding photographer, the other one sleeps all day long.”
so, i relate with being myself a wedding photographer and having a dog, who also sleeps all day long (really??? how can they manage this and then sleep all night long as well?). as usually fashion bloggers talk about things i don’t really care much about, like the newest trend, the sale season, the trendy designers and must-have things, like $600 handbags or $400 shoes, kendi’s style spoke to me! it’s the style i feel related to, light, casual, but cute and with a character! i’ll definitely add her blog to my reader and that will be a first! for more info on kendi’s work, you can explore her blog and store!
you can explore these kind blogs that had me as a guest!
