{doing-it-myself} :: a pretty recycled ribbon

hello my friends, how are you doing? it’s friday! it’s here! any nice plans for this weekend? i have plans for today! i will be attending this alternative handmade market, which will be hosted in the botanical garden near my house! and of course, i could not be somewhere else, but there! also because i hope to be shooting with {tia rosa} and her stunning jewerly pieces! and during the weekend, some new work is expecting me, but i am so excited to start this new project, i can’t wait! i will share later, of course! but today, i want to share something else, a new diy project. well, you probably are aware that i try my very best to recycle all i can and use it on my business, mostly to wrap all my orders in a pretty way. from used paper, from handmade {tracing paper envelopes}, to {thank you note cards}, to painted tags & magazine wrapping paper… i try to develop a personal style for wrapping my orders. this week, i found a new one. i had this blouse that did not fit me anymore, and it was ruined on the side. as i have no sewing skills, and as i would not give this for charity on these conditions, i thought the fabric could be used for something else though. let’s see what i did, shall we?

diy project: recycled ribbon

what will you need?
one used piece of clothing
scissors
your package

so, what do you think? inside the package was this beautiful {notebook} for a little girl, that had made her order during the handmade market! what a clever idea she had, don’t you think? i will be back my friends!

{doing-it-myself} :: tracing paper envelope

ok, i might be doing some more diy projects for the blog. not that i think i am that good at these, but at least i challenge myself to actually create some of the ideas that come to my mind. last week, i told you about {thank you note cards} for your customers or gifts, this time i thought about creating some envelopes for my squared prints out of tracing paper. we use tracing paper in the kitchen for a lot of things, but i actually bought it thinking about some small projects, these envelopes included. so, why tracing paper and why envelopes? because i sell squared fine art prints and i love glassine envelopes. but i don’t find glassine paper that easily, and my envelopes are all suitable for the 5×7 or 8×10 prints, so i needed to create some squared as well! and tracing paper was the closest to glassine…. and maybe a lot cheaper! here are the steps (i know, i know, these projects are really simple, but go easy on me, will you? i’m a newbie here!)

diy project: tracing paper envelopes

what will you need?
tracing paper roll
scissors
ruler
glue
two leaves
embossing tool

so, what do you think? easy, i know! but it makes my squared prints look nicer! and i always love to prepare a good gift-wrap for my customers! it is a part of the deal i think! and if you need some squared prints… well, i have a few on {a place for twiggs} & {a lomo love affair} etsy shops!

{doing-it-myself} :: thank you note cards

hello there! how are you? can you believe that it is friday already? whow, when did this happen? well, but this is a good thing right? it must be! so in order to welcome the weekend, i will share for the first time a small diy project (i may launch myself in this diy & resources topic a little bit more here, who knows?), what do you think? it is something pretty simple, specially for you that run a small business or even if you love to wrap your gifts and make it personal!

so, as you know when it comes to customer service i am a bit picky. picky with whoever provides me a customer service and picky with myself, to make everything go in the right way. from the smallest detail to the last, i like to make my orders look great and special to that person who believed in my work! so after a little {painting adventure} i decided to try something else to provide a personal customer service and at the same time, to recycle all those magazines i have at home. and as i always write a thank you note to each customer, i thought of this. that and because mr twiggs also might have said that my skills to paint are the same as a 6 year-old, so… moving on… (!!)

diy project :: thank you cards

what will you need?

black paper sheets (heavier that common paper sheets, but not as thick as cardstock)
paper glue
rotative trimmer
old magazines
white paper sheets (to write the thank you on)

1. pick some old magazines, i like the fashion ones because they are filled with amazing ads (this one is from lacoste)
2. cut the black sheet into a suitable size for a thank you note, or some more words. i cut the sheets in several sizes
3. choose the most beautiful magazine sheets and cut them into different sizes that will suit the cards
4. frame the magazine pieces with the black cards (the magazine pieces must be smaller than the black cards)
5. cut the magazine pieces and glue them into the black cards
6. cut a smaller piece of white paper and glue it on the other side of the black card and write your thank you note!

so, what do you think? easy enough and good-looking? i like to send these as it is a piece of me that goes along with the order. since i cannot say thank you in person, this might do the trick!
