so you have a small business or a blog? you’re thinking about advertising somewhere? you are in the right place… well, obviously you could name a few other places in which you could also be, but as you are here now… i think i should have your attention. there is a lot going on about advertising. should we pay for advertising? should we focus our money on improvements in our own business? well, as a small business owner myself i have paid for advertising before. and i loved it. it gave me the possibility to:

a) meet really cool people who will know who i am in the future;

b) get noticed around the web, where my potential buyers are;

c) help me to build my brand;

d) eventually i have had sales coming from those ads.

should i promise you the last one? i cannot. but i can promise you the first three, which i think it is pretty awesome now! remember just one thing, working hard is part of the deal. even with the best ad ever… if your work does not show quality and someone that has been dedicated to that in order to provide an excellent product, people will see that. and maybe, just maybe… will not buy from you. so, all you have to do is the other way around. here are some really important questions you might have in your head as well…

can you remind me what is your blog about? it is a balanced blog that shares beautiful things found in the fields of design, photography, handmade lives, capturing what is special and different. asides from this, i share all my love for photography, taking all the readers into frequent travels in lisbon through my eyes… and sometimes with a bit of the magic of film. this makes it a special place to be… and as frequently readers say “they are thrilled to read a place for twiggs every day!”

are there differences on rates if i book for more than one month? well, it depends! to book for one month you pay $18 and you have yourself an interview + one ad spot 210×100+ occasional features on sunday crush posts. from time to time, i will launch deals to make you save money! so you might want to email me for those deals!

will i get any sales from advertising? well, i couldn’t promise you that, could i? it is always hard to say that you will get sales. you will get noticed. and that is quite a start point for your business. remember that relationships are what matters in marketing… and i promise you that i will share your love for what you do with my readers, fans and followers! for instance, a personal story… i was on poppytalk handmade market april 2011. i had a few sales, but have no way to see if those sales came from poppytalk, because there was no huge number of sales that month, comparing to others. but i noticed that my name was more out there, than it ever was! after being featured on decor 8… being present on poppytalk was quite something for the online presence. and this means some credits for me, i am sure about that! but of course, i will not just cross my arms and wait, i will keep working hard! but building my brand is always a huge thing for my business and that is what we need to do!

what is sunday crush? after being advertising on the blog for one year, i thought i could be doing more for my sponsors. they help me maintain this blog and somehow reward the time i invest in making this place filled with beautiful photography + interesting & delightful features, but of course i want this to be a non-commercial place, at least not in such an obvious way. so, what could i be doing more? and then i thought about a new feature, just for sponsors, almost completely visual, called sunday crush… to be published on sundays!

can you host a giveaway for me? sorry, but i am currently not hosting giveaways. i might do it in the future, but not right now… it is a personal issue. i think that there are so many giveaways everywhere, that it stopped being special somehow! other than that, we will find several people that are only interested in the giveaways and will stop following our blog and will not care about your shop afterwards. so i prefer keeping who is really interested close by showing them how interesting you are!
