As promised on Facebook, this week I would share a wedding that was so beautiful, so unexpected on my schedule and different from all the ones we’re used to. And when I say this, I’m always afraid that someone will consider this as being something negative to say towards the other kind of events. That just because it’s different, that I must believe that it will be better! Well, the truth is far from that!

The thing is that shooting these days is just for itself, something really special, no matter how the day is planned. Of course that at the very least, I wish and expect my clients have a common starting point for their wedding day – to be something special, unique and planned by them, with details that matter to them, tell a story about who they are as a couple. And I also want to believe that this happens all the time, because they also chose me to be their wedding photographer, so they must want something unique as well.

And this is the detail that makes all the difference, but also makes all the sense, doing something because it make sense, because it’s who they are, not because someone told them that they had to do things on a certain way. I love this courage, this hard work, to make this day such a beautiful day, and above all, a meaningful day. Weddings are a celebration, no matter if you’re religious or not, they are celebrations of love. And let’s think this straight, when will you ever have your whole family and friends together under the same roof?

And out of curiosity, and though I have the worse memory of all times, there are certain emails asking for quotes, I never forget. And that happened with these love-birds! Usually as the year goes by, at a certain point we stop getting emails asking for quotes for that same year. Instead we are already booking for the following year. And when I was getting back from a short break last year, I received their email asking for a quote for the last day of October. But it would be a slightly different schedule, but it was made to receive family and friends over dinner. And that is always the most important thing – welcome them over food and celebrate with them!

It would be a civil ceremony on a restaurant, a late ceremony. A dinner for close family and friends and an after-party for more friends that would be arriving for cake and champagne! A day that, at the same time, had everything as usual, a bride getting ready, a bride with her girl friends helping her to get dressed. A party with golden stilettos and golden All Star shoes to rest tired feet from a long day! Elegance and irreverence under the same roof, on a very happy day!
